Testing your T-Mobile Home Internet connection
T-Mobile Home Internet is a 5G fixed wireless service: a gateway receives the mobile signal and shares it over Wi-Fi. Installation takes minutes, but speed depends on signal strength, the time of day and network load. T-Mobile also sells fibre in a few areas, a separate service.
This test detects your provider automatically and measures download, upload, ping, jitter and latency under load against the nearest server on Cloudflare's network. Enter your plan speed under the result to see the percentage you really get.
T-Mobile Home Internet speeds by plan
| Plan | Download | Upload |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan (Rely) | about 130 to 350 Mbps typical | about 12 to 55 Mbps |
| Amplified and All-In | about 170 to 500 Mbps typical | about 12 to 55 Mbps |
T-Mobile publishes typical speed and latency ranges on its broadband labels; typical latency is about 16 to 28 ms. The entry plan has a lower maximum speed than the higher plans, and home internet traffic may be slowed first when a cell is congested. Checked on 31 October 2026; tiers change and vary by address, so confirm on the T-Mobile Home Internet website.
What result should you expect?
Results vary more than on any wired service. A reading of 150 to 300 Mbps is common; at busy hours it can drop much lower. What matters is consistency: test at three different times and in two or three gateway positions.

Common reasons for slow T-Mobile Home Internet speeds
- Gateway placement: near a window, high up, facing the nearest tower. Moving it one metre can change the result a lot.
- Evening congestion: the cell is shared with every phone nearby; see why internet slows down in the evening.
- High ping when busy: check latency under load with the ping test.
- 5G or LTE: if the gateway falls back to LTE, speed drops. The T-Mobile app shows signal quality.
Before contacting T-Mobile support
- Use the T-Life or Home Internet app to check signal bars and move the gateway.
- Restart the gateway.
- Compare results at different hours before calling support.
- If speeds stay below your plan, check for traffic throttling, then contact support with your saved results.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my T-Mobile Home Internet speed change so much?
It runs on the mobile network, which is shared and affected by signal, distance, weather and the number of users at that moment.
Where should I put my T-Mobile gateway?
Near a window, as high as possible, on the side of the home facing the nearest tower. Test several spots and keep the best one.
Is T-Mobile Home Internet good for gaming?
Typical latency of about 16 to 28 ms is fine for most games, but it can rise at busy times. A wired fibre or cable connection is more consistent.
