About

Our mission

SpeedFibre helps people anywhere measure their real internet speed and understand what limits it. We want everyone to be able to check their plan, find the source of a problem (Wi-Fi, line, equipment, peak hours, throttling) and discuss it clearly with their provider.

Who we are

The site was created in 2026 by a telecom engineer specialised in fibre optics (FTTH), with more than 8 years of field experience in optical network maintenance, measurements and diagnostics. Our guides draw on that practical experience and on public sources (standards bodies, regulators and independent measurement platforms), cited at the end of each guide.

Independence

SpeedFibre is not affiliated with any provider. We do not sell subscriptions and no provider reviews our content before publication. The site is funded by clearly labelled advertising. See our editorial policy.

The technology

The test uses Cloudflare's open-source measurement engine and the closest server on its global network, able to measure well beyond 1 Gbps. Your provider is detected from your network's identifier (ASN) with an offline database.

How we measure

The test downloads and then uploads increasingly large files until each transfer lasts several seconds, and calculates speed only while data is actually flowing: a burst in the first milliseconds does not inflate the result and the pauses between requests do not drag it down. We also measure latency under load (bufferbloat), which explains game lag and video-call drop-outs. The result: figures consistent with other serious tests, on every connection type.

How the site is funded

SpeedFibre is free and needs no account. It is funded by Google AdSense advertising, always labelled and kept separate from the content. We receive no commission from providers and sell no data. See our privacy policy.
